Featuring Michael Yamashita, David Alan Harvey, Ira Block
19th – 22nd November, 2009
Price: US$995 (Includes the classroom sessions, shooting on location, and a three-night stay at the Millennium Grand Sukhumvit Bangkok)
Designed for photographers of all levels, participants must bring a SLR camera, a few favorite lenses, all necessary cables and memory cards. A laptop is also highly recommended for editing photographs.
Bangkok is the ultimate photographer’s canvas. From revered temples to crowded night markets, the city has a diversity and vibrance unlike any other in Asia. It’s this plethora of subjects and moods that make Bangkok the perfect place to learn important disciplines such as artificial lighting, street photography, and the art of capturing cityscapes.
The seminar will be led by three internationally renowned National Geographic photographers and experienced workshop teachers: Ira Block, David Alan Harvey and Michael Yamashita.
The seminar will be broken up into three sections so that participants can spend a full day with each photographer – in the classroom and on location; and focus on three major photographic disciplines:
The fine art of flash and artificial lighting;
How to approach and shoot subjects on the street;
Capturing vibrant cityscapes.
Each morning, the entire class will meet to discuss each subject, look at selected photographs, and plan the day’s shoot. Afternoons and evenings will be spent “in the field” at various locations, giving participants the chance to test their new skills and learn what it takes to make photographs that have impact and tell a story.
